Chris Germain founded Piping Rock Partners in 2006. The name of our firm is derived from Piping Rock Park where Chris learned to play baseball. Our name helps communicate our beliefs in the value of teamwork, practice, relationships, and trust.
Today, Piping Rock is a vertically integrated property manager, general partner and founding member of five operating partnerships with ownership of approximately 500 multifamily units across five properties in Indiana and Ohio, in addition to 17,000 square feet of retail space. Piping Rock has approximately $50 million in assets under management, and no property owned or managed by Piping Rock has ever been late on a mortgage payment.
Prior to founding Piping Rock Partners, Chris was an Executive Director in the Structured Products Group at CIBC Capital Markets, the investment banking subsidiary of a leading Canadian banking and financial services corporation. At CIBC, he led transaction teams responsible for the origination, syndication and execution of $4 billion in highly structured domestic and cross-border tax and asset-based financings, including debt and equity financings for approximately $1 billion in commercial real estate across numerous market cycles.
Prior to joining CIBC, he was associated with Citigroup’s Global Aviation Group and Global Asset Finance Group, based in New York and London. In London, he led European originations for an aircraft lease securitization program. In New York, he managed of a portfolio of tax lease equity investments in co-generation facilities, nuclear power facilities, ocean-going vessels, and satellites.
Mr. Germain received a B.A. in History from the University of New Hampshire. Mr. Germain is a full member of the Urban Land Institute, an Advisory Council Member of the National Multifamily Housing Council and a member of the Stewardship Circle of the National Park Foundation.
